Warriors prepared to fight for love…
Axall:
Can two very alone people find what their lives are missing in one another?
Axall’s trying to build a new life. He and his brothers have built a home that will house three families, established lives that will support their three families… what they each lack is a mate with which to make those lives… leaving their house an echoing empty chamber at this point. They survived the loss of their homeworld and a devastating war, and now, Axall is ready to build something… new.
Rachel lost everything that mattered to her in the blink of an eye. While lost in a pit of despair and grief she made a drastic decision, and now, the Universe has moved on without her, and she is left, totally alone, in a world she doesn’t recognize, to figure out how to go on, and build her life over again. Fortunately for her, she has made one friend, who happens to be of the nosey and caring variety.
What made this story work for me, and what kept the pages turning, was that these were people who understood loss, and what a gamble caring for others is… and yet they wanted to take that chance. Rachel was held back by obligations… and Axall was willing to keep putting himself out there, knowing he was fighting for what makes life worth living.
Khann:
Belle will face her fears for love…
Belle has an inner strength that is fueled by her love for her daughter, and is built on a foundation of love from the loving father who raised her… at least he was always good to her, but he was an Irrcon, the enemy of Khann’s people.
Khann and his people one a hard fought war. Their home planet, and countless civilian lives were lost… but now is the time to focus on the future. On rebuilding, in every sense.
I loved the honest look, each of these characters were willing to take at the events that brought them to this point in life. They were willing to stop, and question, lest they risk being blinded by prejudice and lose, or ruin, something that could be wonderful.
Amie and Molly were delightful characters, can’t help hoping each gets their own story some day.
This done in one quick read stands alone nicely, has some nice references to Axall to help with when they take place in relation to each other, and left me wanting to spend more time in this Universe.
Myadd:
His dream come true…
Myadd is a true romantic, and he has no doubt the match the Vaaxilian Alien Mail Order Brides has found for him will be the blonde beauty he has been dreaming of since before the war… the beacon of light that gave him hope on his darkest days.
Sienna needs help, and she knows it. Desperate times call for desperate measures and while she may not know who or how to ask for help, the mail order brides service offers fiercely protective Aliens who mate for life, that should do? Right?
I loved how Myadd, time and again, showed his true self. Actions speak volumes, and he did so much in this story, not only for Sienna, but for her only friend, Skylab, as well.
I was gifted with a copy of this boxset and am voluntarily leaving a review.
